She was the daughter of William Carlton and Ida (Muse) McLeod. Her second husband was Robert Benson Ausley.

ASHEBOROŚ Grier McLeod Hardin Ausley died February 25, 2005, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem following a six month illness.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.

She was born April 17, 1923 in Carthage to William Carlton McLeod and Ida Muse McLeod.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Howard McLeod and Clyde McLeod and a sister Gladys McLeod Bristow.

Mrs. Ausley married James Edward Hardin in 1939. After his death in 1977, she married Robert B. Ausley in 1979. Mrs. Ausley retired with 30 years service from the Asheboro City Schools having served both Balfour and Guy B. Teachey Schools as Food Service Manager. She volunteered for 15 years at Randolph Hospital and during her lifetime held various positions at both Calvary United Methodist Church and Mount Shepherd United Methodist Church in Asheboro. She lived her life in Asheboro until moving to Winston-Salem in October, 2004.

Mrs. Ausley leaves this life being remembered for her love of family and her love of cooking. She was always one of the first to come to another's need. She will be missed by all of those who love her but will always be remembered for the many things she so unselfishly did.

Mrs. Ausley is survived by her husband of 25 years. Robert B. Ausley; her daughters, Peggy Hardin Lemon and husband Merle of Winston-Salem and Becky Hardin Minnix and husband Ron of Pfafftown; two stepsons, Larry Ausley and wife Becky of Asheboro and Jeff Ausley and wife Angie Ausley of Candler. Her grandchildren include Tim Lemon of Roaring River, Jennifer Lemon Pegram and husband, Chris Pegram of Kernersville, Grant H. Minnix of Winston-Salem and Chris Ausley of Asheboro. Mamaw enjoyed her great grandchildren Trevor and Katlin Lemon and Morgan Pegram. Mrs. Ausley is also survived by a sister Ruth McLeod Leonard and husband Carl of Clinton, S.C.; a brother Roy McLeod and wife Edna McLeod of Julian; sister-in-law Mrs. Clata Hardin of Sophia and Mrs. Polly McLeod Jones of Asheboro; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the KBR Hospice Home, 1010 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; the J. Paul Sticnt Center. WFU Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Mount Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1739 West Chapel Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.
