Kevin D. Stark, age 40, of rural Kahoka, died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at his home.
He was born September 18, 1961 at Keokuk, Iowa, a son of Nyle Dean and Rosa Lee Cochenour Stark. He married Julia Smith and they were the parents of a son, Skyler, of Argyle, Iowa; grandmother, Reba Cochenour of Arbela; one brother, Travis Stark and wife, Cassie, of Kahoka; a half-sister, Sarah Stark of Williamstown; a step-sister, Wendy Morrison of Keokuk, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Bobbie Cochenour and Jerry and Brenda Cochenour, all of Arbela, Dean and Mary Crader of Topeka, Kansas, Ronald and Shirley Lay of Lewistown,
Ronnie and Karen Busby of Luray, Jerry and Julie Watts of Windsor and Glenda Marley of Revere; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee James, a brother, Larry Dean Stark, grandparents, Frank Cochenour and Albert and Nelda Stark, also two aunts, Dorothy June Cochenour and Brenda Lee Stark.
Kevin attended Clark County r-1 Schools, later obtaining a GED. He had worked at various jobs through they years, including on an oil rig, truck driving, and in saw mills. He had been a former employee of Steel Castings and Clark County.
He had been baptized as a youth at the South Wyaconda Baptist Church and had attended Freedom in Christ Fellowship. Kevin loved to hunt, fish and hunt mushrooms and arrowheads. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors, whether working around the farm or on machinery and vehicles and always made sure there was plenty of fire wood. He always put in a big garden and did his own canning. He also wrote beautiful poems and stories.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 10 at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Richard Burrell officiating. Pallbearers were: Mark Roach, Randy Shannon, Todd Shannon, Scott Fox, Paul Kinkade, and Rick Anderson. Burial was in New Woodville Cemetery. Special music by Mike Rainbolt.
Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home.
