Mary Eunice Bates Allen, 93, died February 28, 2013 at Hospice Ministries. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster. Mrs. Allen was born on January 2, 1920 in Gloster, the daughter of the late Christopher Ellison Bates and Ethel Faust Bates.

A lifetime member of the DAR, she graduated from LSU and served as the bookkeeper for the LSU Bookstore for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert McIntyre Allen, brothers, Clifton Faust Bates, William Christopher Bates, Samuel Lyle Bates, Oma Robinson Bates and nephew, William E. Bates.

Survivors include: nephews, S. Lyle Bates Jr. (Cela) of Madison; niece-in-law, Ronnie Bates of Ridgeland; nieces, Anne Laird (Mark), Martha Letzrich (Ned) of Houston, TX and numerous great nephews and nieces.
