On Tuesday last the body of Joseph H. Carlisle passed through Montague for Yreka, he having died in Sacramento on the 2nd of October after a long illness, the last two weeks of which he was confined to his bed. "Joe" as he was familiarly called by all who knew him was born in Yreka thirty-three years ago; his life up to seven years ago was spent in Yreka. In 1904 he went to Sacramento where he was employed in the car shops of the Southern Pacific Company. He made many friends there and won the love and respect of his fellow workers. His mother, Mrs. S. E. Carlisle, three sisters, Mrs. J. M. Forney of Sacramento, Mrs. L. Landree of Oakland, Mrs. George Willis of Yreka and a brother, H. J. Carlisle of Bieber, Lassen County, survive him.
