| Birth: | 1876 | | Death: | Jan. 6, 1900 |  2nd Boer War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Burgersdorp, South Africa, he served as a Trooper in the Imperial Light Horses, South African Forces. On January 6, 1900, during the attack on Wagon Hill, at Ladysmith, South Africa, Trooper Albrecht with an officer of the Royal Engineers, led their force on re-occupied position at a critical moment. As they reached the Boers at their strong hold, the leader was shot by the officer and the two others by Trooper Albrecht before he was shot and killed. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross on August 8, 1902. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
