Birth: 1848
North Carolina, USA
Death: Feb. 11, 1934
Caswell County
North Carolina, USA

A daughter of Rice and Mary Elizabeth Boyd Gwyn. Wife of Livingston Brown, a son of Bedford Brown. (From an obituary in the Feb. 14, 1934 Greensboro Daily News from Greensboro, NC.) Mary was at least 32 years younger than her husband, Livingston, who had been a lawyer. She had children Frederick, age 5 and Mary, 7 months----in the 1860 census. Also living in her home for at least 30 years was her faithful servant Georgeanna Gwyn, who most likely had been with her before her marriage to Livingston.

(Note: Rose Hill is still standing at the intersection of Hwy.158 and Hwy.150---about 5 miles out from Yanceyville, and 15 miles from Reidsville. It is someone's private home, and is pretty much hidden from view by a lot of old trees and overgrown weeds.)
