Mr Fredrick Albert J Newstead. Known affectionatly as Fred / Freddie by his sisters.

I have been doing a family tree lately and with the help of a lovely family finder expert I have filled in alot about my family.

One of the big questions in my life has been what happened to my Great Uncle Fred.

I only met him as a baby and I did not know him very well but I have always wanted to meet him. I had hoped he was alive to talk to and had lived like his dad to 101.

Sadly that was not to be infact Fred went from our lives in 2000. We went to his nursing home and found he had been moved. He had Alzimers at the time and we have not heard anything since. Aunt Dig couldent belive it and sadly for many years before had ignored his illness. We assumed he had passed away around that time.

Now we have found out that he did not pass away in Bourmouth or soon after as once thought but he died in Poole many years later. Sadly his family who where never close to the rest of us and lived their lives away did not inform us.

I am sorry I never got to know you well but I am pleased we know what happened to you in the end. I just wish we could have talked like I had hoped for.

Fred was handsome, fun, a Family man and all round nice guy. Fred and my Aunt Dig his twin sister shared a close bond and at one time my uncle cut his feet walking in Bournmouth and in Portsmouth my aunt was waiting for a bus when a man asked her if she was all right and she found her feet to be bleeding!

Fred was married to Doris Marguerite Ebsworth from 1939 until her death in December 1996. She was born in 1919 and was not a very good wife to Fred according to everyone in the family, she treated him badly and her children were the same, she was not a nice lady and once made Fred walk 4 hours home by foot! She also tried to stir up trouble between my grandpearents as a young woman and was banned from Grandad's funeral. Aunt Dig had no love for her or her children and gave them short shift when they came to her house asking for money, She also wrote them out of her will completely. When Doris eventuly died in 1996 there were no tears from the three sisters, the phrases used to sum her up where "She was the insainly jealous type!" "Nasty woman who was never good enough for our freddy" "An oddball. strange doesnt come close!" Fred was a kind soul but abit to soft really and put up with more then most due to his kind nature.

He used to charge Nan money when she arrived home late from dancing as a boy! She used to call him a little scamp!

Aunt Dig doted on Fred her whole life and she was the only one he really kept in contact with, he was hard to track down by the other family and he dident come down often. Everyone heard how he was doing via Aunt Dig, he must have been very ill by 2000 to not have contacted her when he was moved. Aunt Dig wasnt happy that he was in a care home and wanted to look after him herself bless her.
