Carl was born May 16, 1940, in High Point, a son to the late Frank Lewallen and Elsie Samuels Lewallen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Lewallen and two brothers, John and Donald Lewallen. Carl was a member of Community Baptist Church, formerly Faith Baptist Church; he served as a Deacon and volunteered his time as a serviceman to the church. He worked at several hosiery mills as a fixer and retiring from Cedar Creek in 2009. On May 1, 1964 he married the love of his life the former Mary Gromling. He was an avid sportsman and could do any task that was set before him with great skills. He will be greatly missed but, will be a great friend to the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lewallen of the home; three sons, David Lewallen of the home, Paul Lewallen and wife Laura of Trinity and Frank Lewallen of Archdale; three sisters, Pat Cox of Seagrove, Jean Conrad of High Point and Sarah Moody and husband, Weaver of Troy; and four grandchildren, Jesse, Steven, Jeffrey and Lauren Lewallen.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, February 28th in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Ty Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
