Emma was the daughter of John Hewitt and Sarah Gates. She married Ernest E Clark on 08 Aug 1869, Riverdale township, Kossuth Co., IA. They were the parents of Harry, Amy, Eugene, George, Clara, Leila, Susan, Ross, and Flora.
Jan 28, 1937 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Irvington - Mrs. Eugene Clarke, formerly Emma Hewett of Big Stone City. South Dakota, was buried at Livermore last Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Clarke was born and raised on a farm north of Livermore and was one of the popular young ladies of that vicinity in an early day. Her immediate living family consists of three daughters, four sons, namely: Mrs. Thorn Lauster of Big Stone City, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Lily Raney of Livermore, and Mrs. Annie Arnold of Humboldt.
Ledyard: Mrs. V.A. Barrett received word Saturday of the death of her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Clark at Big Stone City, South Dakota. Her brother, Chas. Raney of Livermore, came for her Sunday, and she went home to spend the week with her parents and attend the funeral which was held Tuesday at Livermore. Mrs. Clark was an old pioneer of Humboldt county and would have been 85 years old March 6th of this year.
