Revolutionary War Patriot- "Rendered Aid"- NC Militia; DAR Ancestor # A059757. Salisbury District, North Carolina Rev War Pay Voucher in NC State Archives, Roll 68.34. Was allowed 14 Schillings 29 March 1792 for aide rendered to the Patriot cause.
Thomas Hudspeth Sr. was the son of George Hudspeth Sr. and Judy Ryan. He was husband of Sarah Glenn(n). They were parents of Leah Dale Hudspeth who married James Jordan Thurmond. Thomas Hudspeth Sr. moved to Hardin County, Kentucky circa 1800, where was was Captain in the Corn Stalk Militia of the 60th Regiment , Hardin County, Kentucky. He appears in the 1810 census in Warren County, Kentucky. Some time after that, he moved to Maury County, Tennessee; where he appears in the 1820 and 1830 census records. Records accepted by the DAR indicate he died in Maury County, TN in 1835. The exact location of his grave is unknown and there may be no marker. There are several other Hudspeths buried at Goshen Cemetery who may be his kin as he died in this area. An online memorial is being placed for this Revolutionary War Patriot at Goshen Cemetery, pending further verification.
