RUSHVILLE — Max W. Tague, 95, a longtime Rushville resident, passed away Feb. 23, 2013 in Avon.

He was born Dec. 17, 1917 in Laurel to Gilbert C. Sr. and Margaret Mary "Mayme" (Raham) Tague. Max was a sergeant with the US Army, serving from 1942 to 1945. He was a mechanic with the 44th Fighter Squadron 18th Fighter Group, serving during World War II.

Max was married to Bernice Meyer for 24 years. He married Jean Lemen Oct. 2, 1971; she preceded him in death July 6, 1973. He spent many years with his longtime companion, Ruth Underwood. He was retired from Standard Oil after 44 years as a bulk truck delivery driver. Max was a member of Laurel Christian Church, Rushville American Legion Post #150 and Morristown F&AM #193.

He is survived by a son, Larry A. and wife JoEllen Tague of Plainfield; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step children.

Besides his parents and wife, Max was preceded in death by brothers, Neil and Gilbert "Jack" Tague; and sisters, Lillian Hawkins, Ida Catherine Davison, Edna Simpson and twin sister, Doris Ogden.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Eric Hopkins presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Masonic services will be observed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. The Rush County Veteran's Honor will provide military rites at the mortuary.
