Edith Claire Greubel was born on October 27th, 1933 in Independence, MS , the daughter of James Myles and Lizzie Lee (Lewis) Darby. On January 25th, 1958, she married her husband and her best friend, Robert "Bob" Greubel, in New York City. This union was blessed with four wonderful children, Stephen, Paul, Amy, and Ana. Edie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in bringing up her children and having a part in all of their activities. She attended school as the children got older and obtained her Bachelor's degree at Northeastern State University. She taught French in her spare time, and loved her time with students immensely. She raised beautiful flowers and enjoyed making her house a home for her family. She traveled to Scotland, Ireland, England, and to the Vatican. She was a member of PEO, the Community Theatre of Tahlequah, and St. Brigid's Womens Guild. She was a wonderful cook and loved to treat her family to her newest creation. The most important aspect of her life were her beautiful children and grandchildren. Any time spent with them was a treat. She was always active in various community projects and especially her church, St. Brigid's. She lost her beloved husband Bob in 2004 and moved to Tulsa to be closer to her family. The Lord took Edie home from her labors on Friday, February 22nd, 2013 in Tulsa, OK. Edie was 79 years old. She will be missed greatly by all her family and those of us blessed with her friendship. Edie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert "Bob" Greubel, her brother, David Darby and her sister, Helen McKinnon.
