18 Sept 1919: Friends throughout the county of William Gerberich, residing at Harper's, East Hanover Township, were grieved and shocked today to hear of his death which occurred at 2 a.m. this morning. He was widely known and highly respected in this community and his death came as a great surprise to most of his acquaintances. The late Mr. Gerberich had been in poor health the whole summer, but only took to his bed on Sunday, one day before his death. He was seventy nine years of age. Mr. Gerberich was for a number of years the proprietor of the hotel at Harper's, and held the position of Prothonotary of Lebanon County. Later on he returned to his farm at Harper's, where he has spent the past thirty years. The farm was operated by his son-in-law, R.J. Emrich. Those surviving are, his wife, Rosanna Gerberich, son, W.T. Gerberich, of Lebanon; Mrs. John Ziegler, of Lebanon, and Mrs. R. . Emrich, at home. The deceased was an uncle to Dr. Harvey Gerberich, a well known physician in this city, and was also a member of Walmer's Church, [Lebanon Semi-Weekly News]
