George W. Reading, of 2640 Pacific Street, a Milwaukee railroad employee for 40 years, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital at the age of 68. He had been in ill health the past year and a half. Born at Blakesburg, Iowa September 27, 1881, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary Reading. He attended the schools of Blakesburg and on January 24, 1912, was married to Louella Bell Irwin at Ottumwa. Since 1901 Mr. Reading had lived in Davenport. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen at Ottumwa. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold Thiessen, Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons, George I., at home, and Gerald W. Reading, Davenport; and four grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Runge Chapel, followed by burial in Fairmount Cemetery.

The Reading Funeral
Funeral services for George W. Reading were held in the Runge Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. William Eller officiating. Ada Cryder sang. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery. Honorary bearers were Joseph Kerrigan, Jerry Collins, M. LaBow, Ralph McCoy, Charles Swank and Ed Strohm. Active bearers were John Christiansen, Q. L. Mott, Elmore Layton, Perry Grubbs, Albert Snow and M. McCartney.
