A crash between an oil truck and the car in which they were riding resulted in the death of Mrs. Dorothy Hathorn and her eldest son, Ray. The accident occurred on Feb. 17 between Clayton, N. Mex., and Delhart, Texas, as the family were enroute here to visit relatives.
Two of the six children were seriously injured, while the husband and father, Jim Hathorn, and the other three children escaped with minor injuries.
The bodies of Mrs. Hathorn and her son, Ray, were returned to Kingston for burial, and were interred in the Upper Camp Ground cemetery. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb 22.
Besides her husband Mrs. Hathorn is survived by four sons, Johnny Lee, Harold, Bobby Don and Billy Joe; an only daughter, Ruth; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Armer, Greenfield, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Annis Cain, Kingston; Mrs. Bonnie Fansler, Denver, Colo. and Hester Armer, Greenfield; five brothers, Raymond Armer, Green Forest; Dennis, Arnold and Vernon Armer of Greenfield; and Charlie Armer, Stationed with the U. S. Army in Japan.
