Burton Lee Williams Jr., 78, a retired Postal Service employee, passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at a local hospital.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Service will be conducted by the Revs. Randy James and Richard Blair of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
Burton was born in Fort Worth on Jan. 31, 1923. He attended Diamond Hill High School and Texas Christian University. He was the recipient of the United States Post Office award "Outstanding Employee of the Year." Having been a Christian since he was seven years old and a Baptist, Burton was an avid reader of the Bible and a prophecy scholar. During World War II, he served as a technician in the United States Army Air Corps. He received several awards and an honorable discharge. Burton continued to be dedicated to his country until his death on Memorial Day.
Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Janice Williams; daughters, Judy Methvin and husband Scott of Fort Worth; Betty Jones McEntire of Yuma, Ariz.; sister Ona Mae Blevins of Fort Worth.
