"George Burr, an old and well known resident of Maspeth,died at his home 123 Clinton Ave. yesterday morning. Mr. Burr was born in Redding,Conn.and was the son of Bradley Burr. For several years he was engaged in manufacturing in Manhatten. In 1871 he removed to Maspeth with his family where he resided until his death. In former years Mr Burr took an active interest in politics being prominitly identified with the Republician Party. He at one time filled the position of Justice of the Peace in the old town of Newtown. He was for a number of years Tax Collector for School District 5 and also was a charter member of Hook and Ladder Co 5 of the old Volunteer fire dept.. He was a member of Elmhurst Presbtyerian Church and highly esteemed throughout the community where he lived. His many friends will greatly deplore his death and his familure face will be missed by everyone. Mr Burr is survived by a widow Mrs Mary P. Burr: one son Frederick W., of Maspeth, and two daughters, Mrs Charles Gross of Maspeth and Mrs Norton Van Alstyne of Brooklyn,six grand children and six great grand children. Funeral services will be held at the late home of the deceased this Saturday at 3 O'clock. Interment willbe made at the family plot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The funeral arrangements willbe in charge of undertaker Frederick W Roenele of Grand Street Brooklyn." obit The Newtown Register newspaper issue of June 3, 1915
