Sri Lanka Prime Minister. The first woman to serve as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, she also was Leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party which her husband Solomon Bandaranaike founded. In all Bandaranaike served three terms as Prime Minister, 1960 to 1965, 1970 to 1977, and from 1994 to 2000. Bandaranaike died from a heart attack in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in October 2000, at the age of 84. (bio by: K)
