E. Glenn "Spikes" Tragesser, 85, of Westmoreland City, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in the Monsour Hospital, Jeannette. He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Jeannette, a son of the late Charles and Marie Byerly Tragesser. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. An accomplished musician and well-known trumpet player, Glenn played in several area orchestras and bands, including Touch of Velvet, Frankie Carroll, Wally Gingers and several ballroom dancing groups. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin, and the Manor American Legion. He was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians Union of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Tragesser; and two siblings, Charles Tragesser and Grace Kasperick. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Anna Orange Tragesser; a son, William Tragesser and his wife, Marilyn, of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Lauren Landfried, and Robert G., Raymond, Vanessa and Mark Tragesser; four great-grandchildren, Spencer and Colby Landfried, and Matthew and Stephen Tragesser; and two siblings, Lawrence Tragesser and Wilma O'Brien, both of Florida. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
