Services for Daniel Carl McFerrin, 25 of Modale, Iowa, who died as a result of a motorcycle accident May 22, 1994 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley. Rev. Dick Krambeck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery at Bellevue. (Later re-interned at Calhoun Cemetery.)

Daniel Carl McFerrin was born May 27, 1968 in Blair to Sonny and Raynelle Bohringer McFerrin. He graduated from Blair High School.

He married Janice Nichols June 13, 1992 in Omaha and they made their home in Modale.

He was a manager at Bakers Supermarket in LaVista.

He is survived by his wife, Janice of Modale; his mother, Raynelle Kaszynski and her husband, Richard of Omaha; his father, Sonny McFerrin of Modale; a sister, Michelle Hatcher and her husband, Monte of Logan, Iowa; a nephew, Zachary Hatcher of Logan; his grandparents, Carol and Frances Bohringer of Omaha and Ed and Helen McFerrin, Sr. of Modale; half-sisters, Debra Baker of Sacramento, California and Sandra Spaulding of Council Bluffs, Iowa; half-brothers, Elvin McFerrin of Pittsburgh, Mississippi; Dwane McFerrin of Council Bluffs and Bill McFerrin of Byron, Minnesota; a step-brother, Richard Kaszynski of Omaha and nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Kraushaar will be organist. Teri Grimm will be soloist.

Casket bearers will be Lloyd Rupp, Jason Salter, Carol Bohringer, Don Nichols III, David Nichols and Bobbie Hildreth.

Hennessey-Van Cleave-Hurley Funeral Home in Missouri Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Former Blair Man Dies After Accident

Daniel McFerrin of Modale, Iowa and formerly of Blair died Sunday, May 22 following an accident in which his motorcycle collided with one driven by Bruce A. Killpack of Missouri Valley, Iowa. Killpack also died.

McFerrin and his wife, Janice were reportedly southbound on County Road K-45 in Harrison County, Iowa about 9:40 p.m. Killpack was apparently northbound and was rounding a curve as McFerrin entered the curve. The two allegedly collided in the northbound land of the road.

Both Killpack and Daniel McFerrin were killed as a result of the accident. Janice McFerrin was taken by air ambulance to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with major injuries, according to information in the Missouri Valley Times News.

Damage to McFerrin's 1994 Suzuki was estimated at about $7000. Killpack's 1958 Harley-Davidson had about $1500 damage.

McFerrin was manager of a Baker's Supermarket in La Vista. Killpack was manager of Tamarack Lanes in Missouri Valley.
