DALTON -- Allan Rossman Bradbury, 87, of 38 East Deming St., a longtime resident of Williamstown, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. He moved to Dalton three years ago.
Born in Great Barrington on Sept. 25, 1919, son of Henry V. and Estelle Smith Bradbury, he attended schools in Dalton and was a 1937 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of staff sergeant, serving from April 1943 to February 1946.
Mr. Bradbury, a poultry farmer, was employed for 42 years as manager of the poultry department at Arbor Acres in Williamstown, formerly Mount Hope Farm, retiring in 1987. Before that, he worked as an engine lathe operator for General Electric Co. from 1941 to 1943.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Dalton and of the Dalton American Legion and a past assistant scoutmaster in Williamstown. He was a stamp collector and a railroad, gardening and music enthusiast.
He and his wife, the former Phyllis E. Corey, were married May 13, 1944, in Dalton.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Andrew R. Bradbury of Blackfoot, Idaho; three daughters, Margaret E. Rice of Rowe, Carolyn E. Smith of Concord, Calif., and Catherine E. Whitcomb of Worthington; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Allan Rossman Bradbury, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Main Street Cemetery in Dalton by the Rev. Robert R. Kyte, pastor of First Congregational Church of Dalton. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice, in care of DERY FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Mr. Bradbury was predeceased by a brother, Merrick Bradbury, a sister, Elizabeth Cande, and a granddaughter, Sabrina C. Rice.
