MARJORIE A.(MARJ) ALUMBAUGH
1938-2008
Marjorie A. (Marj) Alumbaugh, dearly loved wife of Bill; adored mother of son Roderick Collins, daughters Jocelyn Severson & husband Jeffrey, Allison Collins and partner Tracy, and stepdaughter Natalie Alumbaugh; beloved grandmother of granddaughters Jessica and Jamie Rodgers, and grandson Matthew Severson; died suddenly on Wednesday May 21, 2008. Marj was born on May 30, 1938 in Hawk Junction Ontario Canada. She was the youngest child of the late Gordon Phillips, and Ruby Demoliter's three children. Her brother Travis Phillips, and sister Lois Murdock preceded her in death.

Marj was a vivacious, energetic, organizing lover of life. Shortly after birth, her family moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she attended school graduating Ontario Collegiate High School. There she excelled in sports including Basketball and Rowing. Her interest in sports continued life long doing exceedingly well in tennis, golf, and others. Upon graduating from high school Marj embarked upon an employment career that spanned work as a bookkeeper, and later as a sales person. She sold insurance a number of years, retiring from Prudential in 1994. Her most rewarding occupation involved selling real estate, a job she was doing for Resort Quest Realty at the time of her death. While working she also successfully raised her family of two daughters and a son.

Marj's love of people found outlets volunteering, and working in local Pensacola social organizations. She performed as an usher in the Sanger Theater for a number of years. She was a member and office holder in the Singles Sailing Club. She organized and led a Singles Golf Club, where she met her future husband Bill Alumbaugh. Marj enjoyed their life together, vacation traveling when possible, taking advantage of all the happenings available in Pensacola, and enjoying their many friends and family. She will be sorely missed. However, we have the certain knowledge that she has gone to a better place.

Funeral services will occur at the Episcopal Church of the Advent located on County Road 99, one block south of 98, Lillian Alabama. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm Saturday May 24, 2008 at the church. Service will start at 3:00pm.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Marj's name to The Humane Society of Pensacola, 2480 West Garden St., Pensacola, FL 32505-8017 or to the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 12099 County Road 99, Lillian, AL 36549. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
