William S. "Bill" Dreiling, 88, Hays, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Hays Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1924 in Victoria, Kansas the son of Balthasar and Elizabeth (Graf) Dreiling.

He married Valeria Jacobs in 1948 and she died in 1949. He later married Mildred (Zimmerman) Fross on February 17, 1954 in Hays, Kansas. He and Mildred would have been married 59 years today.

He was a barber for nearly sixty years in both the Dreiling Barber Shop and later the Centennial Barber Shop. He was also a USPS rural mail carrier for nearly twenty years. He was a US Army Veteran, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Third Degree Council #1325 of which he was a past Grand Knight, the Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of which he was a past Faithful Navigator, the Hays American Legion of which he was a past Post Commander, and he enjoyed woodworking, volunteering with the Hays Senior Center, playing cards and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays, three sons, Julian and Sheila Dreiling of Lincoln, NE, Larry and Tammy Dreiling of Evans, GA, and David and Amy Dreiling of Colwich, KS, three brothers Fridolin "Fritz" Dreiling and his wife Edna and Francis Dreiling, all of Victoria, and Vince Dreiling and his wife Ellen of Hays, two sisters, Mary Theresa "Theresa" Brungardt and husband Eddie of Walker, KS, and Elizabeth "Betty" Schmidt and husband Vernon of Hays, a sister-in-law Delores "Dee" Dreiling, Hays, a daughter-in-law Leanna Fross, Hays, grandchildren Brandon Dreiling and wife Crystal, Brent Dreiling, Brady Dreiling and wife Martha, Bryce Dreiling and wife Tricia, Joshua Dreiling, Kenton Dreiling and wife Lindsey, Phillip Dreiling, Kevin Fross and wife Laura, Dustin Fross, Amiee Dreiling, Danielle Marsh and husband R.C., and Jerree Fross, and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gerald Fross, two brothers, Sylvester and Robert Dreiling, three sisters, Seraphina "Sarah" Davis, Alfreda "Freda" Grabbe, and Caroline Rita Schmidt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial with military honors by the Hays American Legion will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00pm and on Tuesday from 9:00am until 9:45, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5:30 until 6:30 on Monday at the funeral home. A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 on Monday followed by a combined Third Degree and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:00, all at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Hays Good Samaritan Society, in care of the funeral home.
