Vincent A. Bowe, 90, of North Syracuse since 1954, passed away Friday. He retired in 1984 as dispatcher timekeeper from the Onondaga County Highway Department. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the European Theater with the Army Air Corps and was a recipient of the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of American Legion Post 1297. Mr. Bowe was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving as Commander of Flotilla 2-1 and Captain of Division 2, District 9 Eastern Region, serving for 18 years, before becoming a permanent retired member in 1978. He attended St. Rose of Lima Church. The former Geraldine "Jerry" Becker, his wife of 59 years, predeceased him on January 5, 2001. Surviving are his brother and sister in-law, Arthur James and Helen Bowe; sister-in-law, Janet Moore; nieces, Judith, Jennifer, Melody and Marlene; nephews, Jeff, Steve, Patrick and William; grandnieces, grandnephews and great- grandnieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, at 10 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 South Main St., North Syracuse.
