Ted Wilcox, one of the area's most accomplished sportsmen and a longtime writer on outdoors and hunting topics, died Sunday December 17, 1990 of a heart attack.
Mr. Wilcox crammed two lifetimes of travel and adventure into his 60 years: He traveled to several continents to hunt exotic game, photographed animals all over the Western United States, worked as a cowboy in Colorado, hobnobbed with national sporting-good executives and wrote and edited several outdoors magazines.
For many years, Mr. Wilcox wrote the "Ricochets" gun column in the Fishing and Hunting News, a Seattle-based magazine. He worked at the magazine from 1962 to 1974, part of that time as managing editor.
Born in Omak, Okanogan County, he was raised in Spokane and on a ranch on the Colville Indian Reservation. He attended high school and college at St. Martin's in Lacey.
