Glenda Faye Carter, 71, of Hurley, MS, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Pascagoula, MS. Glenda was born on September 7, 1944 in Kemper County, MS. She was a loving, selfless, and devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Matriarch beyond equal. Glenda was a woman who lived a life led by love and adventure, and she brought happiness along with her to everyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path. She had an insatiable hunger for travel, along with a moral compass that was unwavering. She put family above all else, which was always apparent. Having never met a stranger, Glenda was loved by all. May she have fair weather on her final trip and reach her destination welcomed into loving arms.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tinky” Carter; mother, Frances George Strong; father, James N. George; and daughters, Margaret Carter and Rita Carter Fore.
She is survived by her daughter, Nena Dickens of Las Vegas, NV; sons, James Dickens of Hurley, Randall (Desirae) Dickens of Hurley, Byron (Ann) Carter of Hurley, Mitchell (Julia) Carter of Prairie Village, KS, Charles R. (Karen) Carter of Hurley, and Kenneth (Vicki) Carter also of Hurley; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Rosedale United Methodist Church. Funeral service will begin at the church beginning at 4 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale UMC Cemetery.
Pot luck immediately following interment at the church. Please bring your favorite dish.
