Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Gottfried Finkbeiner, Retired Farmer

Gottfried Finkbeiner, 76, a retired farmer, passed away early Monday morning, September 29, at the Mobridge Manor. He had been in failing health the past year, and had lived at the Mobridge nursing home the past two months.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 01, at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Timber Lake with Pastor Thomas Schmidt officiating. Kesling Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. David Pfaff, soloist, sang "Savior, Blessed Savior" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," with Mrs. Lawrence Jung at the piano.
Interment was made in the Timber Lake cemetery. Rudy Kempf, Fred Richter, Wayne Schlosser, William Lutz, Lawrence Jung, and Rheinie Pahl served as casketbearers. Vern McNeely and William Pahl were ushers.
Mr. Finkbeiner was born January 14, 1893, in Russia. He came to the United States in 1911, and settled 16 miles north of Eureka, South Dakota. He married Elizabeth Delzer in 1912. She passed away in 1914, and three years later, he married Bertha Delzer. They moved to a farm south of Firesteel, and lived there until retiring and moving to Timber Lake in 1959.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Oscar of Isabel, and Frank of Eureka, Montana; and three daughters, Elsie (Tony) Klein of Gettysberg, Ida (Albert) Fjeldseth of Mobridge, and Lydia (James) Holden of Hot Springs. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
