S M Yourkvitch Sr., Lorain fireman, dies:

Stanley M Yourkvitch Sr, 35, a Lorain fireman, died in Lorain Community Hospital this morning after a long illness. He lived at 3503 Knierim Dr.

A fireman for more than 11 years, Mr Yourkvitch had served as chairman of the fire prevention contest for three years.

He was born in Elyria and had lived in Lorain the past 20 years. He attended Elyria and Lorain Schools and had served in the Marine Corps over three years.

He was a member of St. Peter Church, Lorain Amvets Post 47, United Polish Club and the Polish American Citizens Club. Mr Yourkvitch did interior decorating as a part time job.

Survivors are his wife, Nancy (Lynhart); nine children, Cheryl, Sandra, Stanley Jr, David, Thomas, Dennis, Michael, Richard and Joseph, all at home; his mother, Mrs Vera Matyas, Lorain; five sisters, Mrs. James (Linda) Grosso, Youngstown, Mrs Albert (Joanne) Koviak, Mrs Jack (Frances) Heavener, both of Elyria, Mrs Michael (Marian) Luszti, North Ridgeville and Mrs William (Betty Ann) Brandt, Lorain.

Also three half-sisters, Mrs Robert (Kathy) Strurkert, the Misses Shirley and Rosemarie Matyas, all of Lorain; two half-brothers, Sam and George Matyas, both of Lorain.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemeter.

Military rites will be conducted by Amvets Post 47.

Members of the Lorain Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
