In his 21-year boxing career, Mr. Young, who fought some of the top heavyweights of his time, lasted 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali in 1976 in Mr. Young's only world-title bout. He won a 12-round unanimous decision against George Foreman in 1977. After he lost a 15-round split decision to Ken Norton in 1977, his run was over. He retired in 1990 with a 35-18-3 record with 12 knockouts. He was part of a boxing tradition in Philadelphia that produced world-class fighters. He was inducted into Pennsylvania's Boxing Hall of Fame in 1998. He died of heart failure at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. (bio by: Richard Lombard)
