She was the wife of Judge J.E.R. Ray. He served as Secretary of State under Gov. Isham Harris, 1859-1862. She was 47 years old at the time of her death and like her husband and children before her, she was a victim of yellow fever in 1879.

Mollie and Judge Ray married between 1850 and 1857.

There was a J.E.R. Ray Jr. as he appears in Memphis City Directories.
