Graveside services for Clifford Lawrence Bancroft Sr., age 86, a resident of Painesville for 63 years, will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville. Born April 14, 1924, in Willoughby, he passed away Oct. 25, 2010, at his home. Clifford served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS York. He enjoyed building and selling doll houses and all sorts of woodcrafts. He also enjoyed vacationing with his wife of 65 years, Mary at their cabin in Pennsylvania. Survivors are his wife, Mary (Lohr) Bancroft; sons, Clifford L. Bancroft Jr. and Terry (Cheryl) Bancroft; daughter, Denise Dettling; sisters-in-law, Betty Wilkerson and Eleanor Latshaw; brother-in-law Charles (Shirley) Lohr; sister-in-law, Nan Moser; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Carl Bancroft; sister, Betty Prall; stepbrother, Len Tucker; mother, Mildred (Tucker) Bancroft; father, George Bancroft; stepmother, Dorthy (Hale-Tucker) Bancroft; and grandson, Cliff L. Bancroft III. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
