LUCILE V. MESSNER
ELKHART - Friends of Lucile V. Messner may call from 6 p.m until the rosary and funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Billings Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Ryan of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
Mrs. Messner, 80, of 1222 Canton St., died in her home at 8:23 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 22 1998)
She was born on Nov. 4, 1918, in Wakarusa, and graduated in 1935 from Wakarusa High School. As Lucile V. Shank, she married Paul W. Messner on Jan. 19, 1936, in Goshen. He died Sept. 23.
She is survived by a son, James A. of Goshen; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Rae Ann) Lane and Linda Raifsnider, both of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Ganger, Irma Mishler and Mrs. Merle (Florence) Schwalm, all of Goshen, and Mrs. Merle (Marge) Stephens of Niles; and three brothers, Don Shank of Longs, S.C., Kenneth Shank of Zellwood, Fla., and Kermit Shank of Hamilton. Two brothers, Alvin and Ray Shank, are deceased.
Mrs. Messner was a homemaker and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given to the Annual Bishops Appeal or to the church.
