BETTENDORF - Services for Allen Charles Schneckloth, of Bettendorf, a very well known Scott County businessman, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Mr. Schneckloth died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. He owned and operated the Walcott (Iowa) Coliseum for 22 years and Fairyland Ballroom, DeWitt, Iowa, for 18 years. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Schneckloth was born Sept. 12, 1920, to Rudy and Bettie (Schaff) Schneckloth in Princeton, Iowa. He married Jackie R. Litscher on March 27, 1944, in McCausland, Iowa. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Schneckloth was president of the Mississippi Valley Quarter Horse for many years. He also was a member of the Walcott Legion and active in the Moose, Elks, and Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club. He was a diehard Cubs fan and loved all horse events. He played cards and loved traveling and polka and ballroom dancing. He founded the Iowa Ramblers in 1937. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife; a sister and brother-in-law, LaVonne "Sis" and Cecil McClimon, Preston, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Jean Schneckloth, Davenport, and Charles and Lola Schneckloth, Preston; nieces and their spouses, Sharon and Jerry Carlson, Detroit, Mich., Marianne and John Wrobel, Phoenix, Ariz., Jan and Mike Holdaway, New Zealand, Jodi and Luke Johnston, Oregon, Ill., and Dawn and Keith Brix, Wyoming; and nephews and their spouses, Mark and Shelly McClimon, Dubuque, Iowa, and Danny and Sally Belk, Long Grove, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Michael McClimon.
