Phyllis Sue Kirby, 71, of Bramblewood Village, died Saturday, April
13, 1996, at her residence.
She was born in Bostic, N.C., a daughter of the late John H. and Vera
J. Rushbrook Whitaker. She attended Clear Creek Bible College in
Pineville, Ky. She was a former elementary school teacher at
Hollywood, Fla., and former swimming and physical fitness instructor.
She was a member of Steward's Creek Community Church.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. D.L. Kirby; one daughter, Betty Milam
of Arnoldsburg; two brothers, Jerry E. Whitaker of Lebannon, Va., and
Franklin Boyce Whitaker of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; four sisters, Doris
B. Jessee of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Virginia D. Lynch of
Rutherfordton, N.C., Margaret G. Wilson of Punta-gorda, Fla., and
Ruth L. Savage of Miami, Fla.; and one grandson.
Services were held at Victory Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev.
Mike Worf and Rev. Donzel Wease officiating. Burial was in Broomstick
Cemetery, Five Forks.
