YORKTOWN - Willard G. Bauer Sr., 74, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, after a short illness.
A native of Williamsport, Pa., Will served his country in the United States Air Force and then moved to Hampton in 1946. He retired as an accountant from the Tactical Air Command at Langley Air Force Base in 1985 after 32 years of civil service and then worked for several years as an office manager with Holloman Pontiac.
He was a loyal and faithful member of Central United Methodist Church where he served as lay leader. He was also a member of the Chancel Choir, the Central Joy Singers and the Progressive Sunday School Class. In addition, he served on the Board of Trustees, the Staff Parish Relations, the Administrative Board, the Council on Ministries and the Evangelism Committee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Thelma Garner Bauer.
His survivors include his twin daughters, Debbie Bauer of Yorktown and Laurie B. Edmundson and her husband, Tim, of Hampton, Va.; his son, Willard G. Bauer Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Hampton; his fiancée, Ella T. McDonnell of Yorktown, Va.; two grandchildren, Brad Bauer and his wife, April, and Bonnie Bauer, both of Hampton; and his brother, Dale Bauer and his wife, Judy, of South Bend, Ind.
