Hollis, Okla. -- Former Hays resident Joseph Schmeidler, 69, died Thursday, Jan. 12, at Hollis, Okla. He was born July 7, 1914 at Hays, the son of Emil and Katherine (Dinkel) Schmeidler.

He was an oil field worker.

Survivors include five brothers, Marcellus, Minneapolis, Minn., Isidore, Hays, Robert, Wellington, Albert, Aztec, N.M., and Elmer, Coon Rapids, Minn.; two sisters, Isabel Staab, Stafford, and Mary Ann Lang, Great Bend; and four stepsisters, Lenore Billinger, Hays, Mary Ann Leiker, Victoria, Gene Rose Bergman, Blaine, Minn., and Juanita Hoffman, Westminister, Colo.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial was in St. Severin's Cemetery.
