CHATHAM-Annie Louise Towler Davis, age 85 of Chatham died Monday, December 5, 2011 at her residence.

Born October 23, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Wilborn (Tom) Towler and Viola Craddock Towler. She was predeceased by her by her husband, Leon (Jeff) Jefferson Davis; three brothers, William Towler, Stover Towler, and Odell Towler; two sisters, Ethel Adkins, and Agnes Osborne; and a son-in-law, Harold (Pete) Irby. Mrs. Davis was a member of Greenbay Christian Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed cooking, talking to her friends, and traveling.

She is survived by one son, Leon Jimmy (Bear) Davis of Chatham; one daughter, Ellen Irby of Gretna; one sister, Stella Osborne of Gretna; two granddaughters, Chastity Davis and Candace Popovits; and two great-grandchildren, Jacobb Shelton and Taylor Popovits; and special care givers, Cecile Smith and Kristi Harris. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Greenbay Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister and Rev. David Wayne Prillaman. Burial will follow in the Wagner Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Ellen Irby, 2120 Sycamore Road, Gretna.

The family would like to thank Centra Hospice, especially Georgette Payne, for the great care given to their mother.
