Bernard J. "Jim" Cavanaugh, 30, of Superior, died Thursday in a Lincoln hospital as a result of an automobile accident on November 10. Hospitalized since he was discovered in his wrecked car some eight hours after the mishap. Cavanaugh never regained consciousness.
Funeral ervices (sic) were Saturday, November 27 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Superior. The Rosary was recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday night in the Megrue-Price Funeral Chapel at Superior. Burial was in the Calvary cemetery (sic) at O'Neill. Father Ed Jacworowski officiated.
Cavanaugh was a well-known broadcaster and salesman for Radio Station KRFS in Superior. Authorities said Cavanaugh was returning to Superior late at night after taping a football games for later replay when his car went off a bridge on the county road and into a ravine. The mishap occurred one mile west and a mile and a half south of Nora.
A native of Bayard, he had been a broadcaster with the Superior radio station for about seven years. He was the host of a popular "party line" program and broadcast many sports events in addition to his sales duties.
Besides his widow, Judy, he is survived by 2 daughters, Jodee and Jolene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Cavanaugh, Chambers and 2 brothers, Dennis and Russell, both of Chambers.
