Man is Killed During Storm
As a result of the storm last Friday, Ben Anderson a farmer living south of Chesterton was struck and killed by a car driven by George Wood, aged 19, who resides east of Valparaiso. Coroner Carl M Davis released Wood at an inquest after the young man had been __?__ the case he did not stop after striking Anderson.
Anderson and Alfred Olson, another farmer living south of here, had been to a livestock sale at Knox. Coming north on road 49 about 5:30 they skidded into the ditch on the Dillingham hill a short distance south of the intersection with road 6. They started to walk to the intersection, Olson off the road and Anderson on the concrete. The Wood car came from the south, hit Anderson and continued on.
A crowd gathered and the Flynn ambulance was called. Axel Carlson, driver of the ambulance, noticed a car approaching from the north some time after the accident, with no right headlight. He had the car flagged and the driver, George Wood, was held. He claimed that he did not know he had hit the man, but he was held and released by the coroner, who gave the verdict that the storm was the blame not the accident.
Mr Anderson was born in Sweden on Jan 27, 1906. He had been in this country six or seven years. So far as can be learned, he had no relatives in this country except a cousin in Jamestown, NY. There are a father, stepmother, two brothers and two sisters in Sweden.
Funeral services were held at the Flynn-Lundberg chapel Tuesday afternoon with Rev Andrew Reese of the Swedish Methodist church officiating. John Nordstrom sang and Muriel Reese played. Burial will be in Chesterton cemetery.

Ben is buried in the Potter's field section - PF 11. The burial permit listed "Died 2/22/1935, Ben Anderson, age 40, accidental skull fracture." The accident happened just south of Hwy 6 on Calumet Rd close to the Dillingham cemetery.
