Death: Mar. 17, 1956

1920 United States Federal Census enumerated Millard F. Brady age 62 resided in Parsons Ward 4, Labette, Kansas with his wife Sarah Brady age 49. At that time they were just renting their home. Others in the household were Millard's mother Mary age 81 and their daughter Mary age 15.
He is employed as a blacksmith on a steam railroad.

He was enumerated twice on the 1930 Census. On April 2, 1930 Millard F. Brady age 73 was enumerated as owning his home and living in Anderson, McDonald County, Missouri with wife Sarah Frances age 58. He was working as a blacksmith in the railroad shop. Also living with them was their daughter Mary G Bussinger age 25 and her husband James 28. He was employed as a teacher in public school. At some point, he must have had to leave to work on the railroad in Kansas because the 1930 US Census also reported that Millard Brady was then 73 and residing in Parsons, Labette county, KS in a boarding house on April 9, 1930. None of his family was there with him so it will be assumed it was a temporary situation.

Millard Brady, 98 years old, passed away at his home at 1035 Orner Street in Carthage, MO where he had lived for the past 12 years. His wife Sallie Blanchard Brady survived him and passed away at age 91 in 1962. He was employed as a blacksmith for the Frisco and the M K & T railroads.
He was the son of James H. and Mary Ross Brady.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knell Mortuary and burial was in Park Cemetery in Carthage. Missouri Death Certificate

The RR blacksmith was responsible for keeping the trains running. Especially in those way-back-woods locations. He was the most important man on site. Everybody else could be replaced, but the smithy was the key to a smooth operation.
