D/O James Nason & Sarah Plowman. W/O Charles R Hanshaw = OBITUARY FOR LUCY JANE NASON HANSHAW ~~ Lucy Jane [Sarah Lucinda] Nason was born in Fountain county, Indiana, Sept. 8, 1861 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Thera Brown, 801 Church Street, Ottumwa, Iowa. She was the daughter of James and Sarah Nason and came with her parents to Van Buren county , Iowa in the fall of 1867. Sept. 8, 1891 she became the wife of C. R. Hanshaw. To this union four children were born; Carroll Goodwin, dying in infancy, Glenn C.. of Hannibal, Missouri, Carroll R. ,of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Thera Brown of Ottumwa. Lucy was converted about 1878 , under years labors of Rev. S. S. Steward and jioned the Free Methodist church. She like many others failed to keep the victory at all time but never fully lost sight of what Jesus had done for her. She was an ivaild for ten years and helpless for six years. During the ten years of pain and suffering she was often heard singing and shouting the praises of God and would testify to the saving and keeping power of God. A few hours before her death she called her family around her and ask them to all meet her in Heaven. She chose the songs and Scripture text for her funeral. Rev. Cordia Peterson of Oskaloosa preached the funeral at the Free Methodist church in Ottumwa.
