Shy, passionate, and high-strung, she hated publicity, but it followed her throughout her life. Brn in London to Lady Blanche Henrietta Hozier, it is unknown just who her father was. Her mother maintained that Clementine's biological father was Captain William George "Bay" Middleton, a noted horseman. Clementine Married Sir Winston Churchill at Saint Margaret's, Westminster Cathedral on September 2, 1908. During World War I, she organized canteens for munitions workers on behalf of the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) in London. During World War II she was Chairman of the Red Cross Aid to Russia Fund, the President of the Young Women's Christian Association War Time Appeal and the Chairwoman of Fulmer Chase Maternity Hospital for Wives of Junior Officers. Lady Churchill had three Honorary College Degree's from Glasgow, Oxford, and from Bristol University in 1976, but she always remained as her husband's loyal wife. After her husband's death in 1965 she stayed somewhat reclusive, and died in London at age 92.
