As the 2nd of 13 children she spent her youth helping her dad on the farm, which she loved, and once said, "You can never take the farmer out of me." On January 20, 1937 she married Fred Spieker and for 43 years they farmed north of Ackley and raised four children. In 1980 they retired to Ackley. Elizabeth was a member of the Washington Reformed Church for over 75 years and served in various capacities, including their Ladies Aid till the age of 95. She will be remembered for her cheerful smile, positive attitude, and as "a good neighbor" who would drop anything she was doing to go and help a friend in need. She loved being with people, family reunions, music, and going places! She was gifted at quilting and baking. Her energy and stamina amazed all who knew her along with her ability to remember to send birthday and other greeting cards to family & friends near and far.

A special "4th daughter" was her niece, Janice Rinnels. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Elsa; four sisters: Henrietta Miller, Christine Schurman, Berdene (Ray) See, Marian (Merlyn) Witte, & one brother, John (Grace) Toomsen.
