Patricia Jeffords Flanders, 69, of East Palatka, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville following a brief illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka and a homemaker. She was a very active member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class, the Mary Martha Circle and the United Methodist Women of which she had served as president and secretary. She had also taught Sunday School and Bible Class and had served as chairman of the worship committee. She was a member of the Putnam County Historical Society and the Garden Club of Palatka. She enjoyed helping others in the community through her involvement in several organizations.
She is survived by her companion of 23 years, Benny Ray Jordan of East Palatka; son and daughter-in-law, Marly and Kenny Hightower of East Palatka; stepson, Ben Percy of Ill.; stepdaughter, Lynn Jordan of Jacksonville; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Philips and Jeanine O'Conner, both of East Palatka; 4 grandchildren; one great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 7 at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Hardy B. Sandlin III officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka is handling arrangements. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 6 Sep 2005.)
