MADISON, NC ~ Mrs. Elizabeth (Lib) McAnally Folger, 87, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at her home. A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2009, at Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Perry Webster officiating. Mrs. Folger was born in Madison, April 18, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles Wesley McAnally and the late Elizabeth Dalton McAnally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Dillard Folger, Jr.; her brother, Charles Wesley McAnally, Jr.; and a grandson, Anthony McAnally Lawson. After attending Women's College in Greensboro, Mrs. Folger worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Madison for many years. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church where she served in the past as a Sunday school teacher of young children and as a treasurer and historian of the UMW. She was a Girl Scout leader as well as a former member of the Junior Service League, the Wayside Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a lifelong interest in politics, and served as a past president of the Young Democrats of Rockingham County. For many years, she especially enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Mrs. Folger is survived by her daughters, Libby Apple and husband, Jack of Reidsville; Jane Joyce and husband, Van of Greensboro; grandchildren, Lisa Thomas of Madison, Tabetha Apple Delancey and husband, Wayne of Reidsville; Jane-Marie Ellisen and husband, Brandon of Greensboro; Ken Joyce of Columbia, S.C. and Leigh Folger Joyce of Salem, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Elyse and Clay Thomas of Madison; Caleb Delancey of Reidsville, and a niece, Winston Folger Kobe of Greenville. Colonial Funeral Home of Madison is handling funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that any memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or to the charity of one's choice.
