Sarah Ann Radley Smith was born at Marble Hill, Jefferson Co., In January 31, 1828. In 1845 she was married to James M. Smith who died in 1872. To this union were born nine children, four sons and five daughters, one son dying in infancy. The survivors are Mrs. Emma Clemmons and Mrs. Belle Stillhammer of Hanover; Mrs. Indiana Abbott, Mrs. Kate Baker, Mrs Violetta Priest, Charles W., James M. and Thomas B. all of Bethlehem. There are also 39 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. At the time of her death, May 1, 1914, she was in ther 87th year, and was the oldest living native born resident of Bethlehem Township, she having lived in Bethlehem for more than 75 years. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Henry Hibbard. Six of her grandsons acted as pallbearers. Interment in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
