Mrs. David F. Porter Passes to Long Reward
-------------------
Ella Belle Hardy, daughter of John and Ella Hardy, was born in Jacksonville, Morgan county, Illinois, November 15, 1868, and died at her home near Toulon, Illinois, April 18, 1916, after an illness of several weeks from pneumonia and complications.

She was the youngest of a large family of children of whom only five survive her. They are George, James, John and Robert Hardy and Anna (Mrs. Martha Henderson).

On June 1, 1887, she was united in marriage with David F. Porter and to them were born seven children in the order named: Sadie, Vernice (deceased), John, Grace, Ray, Vernon and Eldon. They with their father and one little grandson, James, are left to mourn her loss.

She with her parents, came to Laura, Illinois, when only four years old. There at the age of thirteen years she was deprived of a loving mother's care and then became the homekeeper for her father until her marriage.

She bore with her last sickness very bravely until the end. Her suffering during the last days was intense until the morning or April 18, when she slept peacefully away.

Her one thought during her sickness was of her loved ones. She was very fond of her children and took an untiring interest in their welfare. She was truly a devoted wife, a kind and patient mother, and an esteemed and loyal neighbor. She is gone, but not forgotten.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. O. Lee of LaFayette at Stringtown church Thursday, April 20, at 2 o'clock.

The pall bearers were Charles Carter, John Bamber, Walter Finley, Elmer Whitten, Link Biederbeck and Benjamin Turner.

The choir composed of Mr. Ruth Wasson, Mrs. W. L. Garrison, Orville Wasson, Edgar Whitten sang "Sweet Resting" "Come Glad Day" "Abide With Me."
