Copper Mining In Michigan

Michigan Christian Advocate - 1905
BODEN.--Wm. Boden was born in Arcadia, Michigan, September 13, 1866, and was killed in the Mass Mine at Greenland, January 3, 1905. When a small boy he moved with his parents from Pewabic to Greenland. He was married March 24, 1887 to Miss Ellen Goard of Greenland. He is survived by his wife, two beautiful daughters, an aged mother and a brother. He was foreman at the Mass Mine, and while on his night-beat, a three-ton rock fell on him, killing him instantly. His death caused a great shock in the community. He was active in the work of the Greenland Methodist Episcopal Church. For years he was Sunday-school superintendent, and at the time of his death he was church treasurer. He was always present at the church services, class-meetings and prayer-meetings. Everybody loved him and he loved everybody. The church has lost a true son, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all. The funeral was large, interment was in the Greenland Cemetery. His life will live after him. We shall miss him, but he has gone far beyond the azure blue to revel in summer lands and roam Eden's fields, and we shall choose his Savioue and strive to meet him there.
