Joseph served as vestryman, J.P., sheriff, member of the Cumberland County Comm. of Safety, & member of the House of Delegates- 1777-1778. He resided at Mansion House Plantation, Cumberland County and was married to Theodosia Mosby 12/15/1763. They had 11 children.
