{Illegible} on Saturday, June 27th, 1885, at Arkansas, Pepen County, Wisconsin, Mr. Benjamin Marshall Gardner, aged 70 years, 2 months and 3 days. He was sick only a week. His remains were brought to {Delaware?} for burial. The funeral took place at the Baptist Church Tuesday, June {?} at 10am. The sermon was preached by the writer from a text in Job 14:14. Mr. Gardner was a resident of Delaware County and was well known in this {??}.
Last Tuesday was a very sad day for the {...} of Delaware, who had never before had two funerals in one day. Benjamin M. Gardner was for many years one of the best citizens this village ever had. He was born in Rhode Island, April 24, 1818 and moved to New York in his youth, and moved to Delaware in 1867 where he lived {??} years ago. He was a pleasant, social, and companionable man. Strictly {....} in all his business transactions, {....} in the transactions of his duty and faithful alike to all. He was a cousin of Mr. Boon. He leaves a son and a daughter.
